!In this edition, we will delve into the art of caring for your exquisite handmade wooden furniture. Additionally, we have prepared a visual treat for you with a collection of pictures showcasing a completed project. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this delightful read with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine—whichever suits your fancy.

Caring for handmade wooden furniture is essential to maintain its beauty and prolong its lifespan. Odie's Oil, a popular choice among woodworking enthusiasts, provides a great solution for nourishing and protecting wooden surfaces. When using Odie's Oil, it is recommended to follow a few simple steps.

First, ensure that the wooden furniture is clean and free from dust and debris. Gently wipe the surface with a microfiber cloth to remove any loose particles. Microfiber cloths are ideal for this task as they are soft and lint-free, preventing scratches on the wood.

Next, make sure to shake the Odie's Oil well and apply a small amount of Odie's Oil directly on the wood. Begin by applying the oil in the direction of the wood grain, using smooth, even strokes. This helps to ensure an even distribution of the oil and a consistent appearance.

Any excess oil can be wiped off.

In South Africa, where the sun can be harsh and temperatures can get hot, it is crucial to protect wooden furniture from these environmental factors. The sun's UV rays can fade and damage the wood over time, while extreme heat can cause it to warp or crack. Regularly applying Odie's Oil once a month creates a protective barrier, shielding the wood from these detrimental effects.

By oiling the furniture regularly, the wood receives ongoing nourishment and moisture, preventing it from drying out and becoming brittle. This maintenance routine helps to maintain the wood's natural beauty, enhance its colour and grain, and extend its longevity.

In conclusion, caring for handmade wooden furniture with Odie's Oil and microfiber cloths involves cleaning the surface, applying the oil with care, and protecting it from the harsh South African sun and hot temperatures. By following these steps and consistently oiling the furniture once a month, you can ensure that your cherished wooden pieces will continue to delight and serve you for many years to come.

Our workshop received a special order from a customer who had recently built a new lodge nearby. The request comprised a Leadwood Cupboard and Dresser table, along with a Leadwood Drinks Bar and a Matumi Basin Stand for their bathroom. Excited to take on the project, we began by handpicking the finest logs.

Using our precise bandsaw, we skillfully transformed the selected logs into stunning slabs and planks. The next step involved leveling the wood with our router, ensuring a smooth and even surface for crafting the furniture pieces. Throughout the entire process, we exercised great care and attention to detail, ensuring that the joints matched flawlessly with the natural grains of the wood.

To add the finishing touch, we applied Odie's Wax and Oil to the completed products. This not only provided them with longevity but also acted as a protective layer, enhancing and preserving the innate beauty of the wood. With dedication and craftsmanship, we delivered furniture that would undoubtedly complement the new lodge's aesthetic while standing the test of time.
